Wildfire's very scarce non-EQ art
« on: January 07, 2011, 02:08:03 PM »

Never thought I'd actually make a thread in here since I rarely draw anything but EQ, but what do you know, I actually did for once!

C/C will ALWAYS be appreciated :D

Hello everyone, say hello to my friend Procrastination! I should be writing an exam, not drawing creepy ladies...

Ever drawn a picture which you thought were Totally Awesome for a while, but then after a few days of not working on it, you think it's kinda.. meh? Yeah, that's how I feel about this one.

This lady is crazy. Megalomanically so. Bonkers. Batshit crazy. Totally nuts. And she does have a story, I just haven't written it yet.

First OC (and a new one!) and non-Elfquest I've drawn in a looooong time! She was just supposed to be a loose portrait on which I could try out some tutorials, but it kind of evolved past that...

Also, she's not entirely finished. I got lazy and bored with her, but I might return to her at some point.

Wow, Wildfire! Gorgeous gothic design! The hair is great! And the colors you chose, too. Also, it's nice to see some non-EQ work from you. I think you are able to show the difference between a human and an elf in your drawings very well. My humans tend to look way too elfy.

Thank you :D I recently became aware of how one-sided I am, art-wise. I can't really draw anything without it having elven proportions... Elfquest made me want to draw, but I forgot to draw non-Elfquest art along the way. So I realized that I couldn't really draw anything except EQ and thought "Hell no!". So now I'm drawing non-EQ stuff! I'll probably not draw much EQ for the next months or so ^_^
Art-improvement ftw!

I did a character sheet! Woo, yay me! This is the first time ever I actually "completed" one. It's very sketchy and stuff, but I always have trouble drawing OC's from different angles. Usually they never end up looking like the same character... I think I succeeded in making her recognizable, but if I didn't, PLEASE tell me!

Also, creepy lady is now named Maeryn ^___^

I really ought to do one for Wildfire as well.

This is turning out to be Wildfire's not-so-scarce-after-all art corner O__o I'm on a roll here!

EDIT: Oh gods, his eyes are terrible!

And another one! Bishie boy no. 2

I'm going to write a comic about these characters in the hopes that I'll be forced to draw all sorts of expressions and poses. Provided that I don't lose interest or can't figure out Manga Studio xD

Very nice! Let me start out by saying these pictures are really good. :) I can see what you mean about having not drawn much non-EQ art recently. I can still see some EQ influence in these, but not much. It's mostly (of course) in the eyes -- which I think might take a drastic step from EQ to anime if they were *slightly* less tilted up at the edges -- but I'm not really an expert on anime style! (Even though I love it.)

As for whether Maeryn is recognizable -- I'd have to say YES. I'm one of those rude-nick people who greedily scans for art when I first look at a post, *then* read the text. When I saw the images, I was like, "Oh, cool, more of her." That was *without* reading the part where you said its the same girl. (And though the hair is a dead giveaway... it was really the expression.)

Thank you for your comment! :D (I'm such a comment-whore...)

Yes, the eyes are quite Elfquest-y. That way of drawing eyes just sticks with me xD I think anime is pretty, but I don't really want to become too accustomed to that style. I think I'll stick with my own half-EQ, half-anime and then some. ^__^

Thanks for that! I'm lousy at drawing my OC's in a way that's consistant, so I'm glad you think so!
I scan the pages for art before reading the text as well xD

Sadly, I could not see your comic pages yet. Wouldn't let me see it without a log in. However, I love these character sheets. I think you did quite a good job and created very recognizable characters, from all angles. Hopefully I can also see them in action in your comic later on.
Don't stop trying out new things, styles and keep challenging yourself!

Thank you :D The two males are undergoing some changes, but they basics are the same ^___^
Hmm, odd. Only they third page should have a warning due to mild nudity/maimed body-parts :/
Here they are: (I won't post them directly, cause they're HUGE)

Ack, I forgot. Here it is:

New artsy stuff!

I'm trying out some new things with Photoshop. With this, I wanted to try drawing without lineart and without using the smudge-tool or custom brushes. I rather like the result!
It was pretty difficult to refrain from using lineart at first, but once I got used to it, it was pretty fun.

Not using any smudging really becomes the stylishness of your picture. It looks very artsy and pretty cool. Again, it's amazing how fast you evolve!

Thank you! :D Not smudging was kinda challenging at first, but I like it now. Feels more real than just taking the easy way out.

More sketchy stuff!

Uchiha Sasuke. Any critique will be much appreciated. Stupid arm D:

EDIT 2: I uploaded the new version with correct bangs this time.

Thanks ^___^ The Sharingan eyes were fun to draw and they'll be fun to color too :D

Page 5 of my comic. I hate her curls they take forever to draw D:

EDIT: AHAHAHAHAHAH! I forgot the text xD I'll go fix that now.

EDIT 2: Uploaded the page, now with text xD

Also, if anyone has requests, Elfquest or otherwise I'd be happy to take them! I really need to draw more :D

I'm trying out the 100 themes challenge. Last time I "tried" this I never really got started because I wanted everything to be finished pictures. Now I'm okay with sketches :D

This is number 30. Under the Rain featuring a sad Uchiha Sasuke ^___^

*jump* Ouch! His arm's gone!!!

Hehehehe, you hate drawing her hair, but it's still fabulous!

I like the sketch, too! ^_^ Though she looks more pensive/wary than sad to me.
