“I'm fine with that then†Tidemist said in response to Marut suggesting they move. She was a bit surprised he went to wake up Tomi, and tensed when he woke in an aggressive manner. She relaxed a moment, then tensed again but to a lesser degree when he went aggressive again. She raised an eyebrow slightly at this behavior, but then that eyebrow and the other one shot right up at Mehadrin's bubbleheaded behavior, insisting all of them guard him. Did he really refer to himself as a flower?
Then Tomi was picking at the red haired elf, and she was a bit surprised but not terribly he started crying. She WAS very surprised when he came to her for comfort! Tidemist felt sympathy for him and smiled in a comforting manner. “None of our kind is unpleasant to look upon, Mehadrin. You've no need to worry about that. But we really must learn about this High One you released. It may be important.â€
Vaeri was a bit concerned when she realized Marut was waking up Tomi, and concerned about his behavior. But other than his momentary bouts of defensiveness, he seemed to be alright and himself again. She watched the little spat between Tomi and Mehadrin, and turned to him. “You could have been a little kinder to him, Tomi. If he thinks himself beautiful, what is the harm?†then to avoid sounding like she was reprimanding him, she gave him a smile. “But your compliments are appreciated.â€

Tidemist blinked a bit at Marut's question. She glanced at the dark skinned and light skinned elves. She had forgotten about them, the elves who couldn't take care of themselves. She wasn't used to that, everyone in her tribe could care for themselves, and they had only a few pips. Then she smiled as an idea struck her. “They can stay in my cave as well. It should be safe, since it's higher up, and the waterfall should prove a good deterrent to predators, especially at night. And there is a mystery there I wanted to mention to everyone if you wish to tackle it while we're gone. There's a false wall in the cave that seems to be hiding something. But I'm not sure when the best time to track is...I usually don't track...â€
Vaeri had finished her eagle and picked up her bowl, deciding to try the strange stew Tidemist had made. She used the lovely bowl Tomi made her, and took a cautious sip. It was very strange, but not inedible. She sipped some more and looked up a bit at the conversation mentioning those who couldn't protect themselves, and Tidemist's suggestion of her den. She raised an eyebrow slightly, wondering what a waterfall must look like.

“Well we could certainly use anyone who's able, if you would be willing to join us.†She smiled pleasantly and chuckled a bit at his rogueish behavior, though she hadn't the faintest idea what a tap-room was, or a Portal...or why it would require a guard. She finished her slices of eagle, and cupped the leaf carefully in her hand, using it as a bowl which she poured some of the seafood stew into. To her relief, it did make the heat bearable enough to hold, and began sipping the stew.
“Seems a dangerous High One with gold skin is on the loose. A red haired elf named Guyaro warned us about him...though he didn't say exactly why he was dangerous. And the uh...pretty elf-†She nudged her head in the direction of Mehadrin with an amused but what-can-you-do expression. “said he released the High One in exchange for his clothes. So...not sure what's going on, but we should probably find out. Something about this seems strange to me...and I would rather not see anyone in this tribe of ours come to harm.â€

Tidemist was pleased and not terribly surprised when Marut volunteered. Considering his words for Tomi's prowess in battle though, she rather wished he were conscious to come along, if battle were required. But before anyone else could speak, a new elf came into the clearing. She looked at him intrigued, but was unable to answer due to her mouth being full. She instead watched the conversation between the elf and Marut, and the elf marching away in determination. She was not too terribly surprised when he ended up back, and looked vaguely unimpressed.
She became more surprised when the rather feral orange hair elf woman approached Dusk and even spoke. She almost half thought the woman would speak in growls. She took in Marut's explanation of her and mused a moment. Then her expression dropped at Mehadrin's sudden declaration of his attractiveness and how it surpassed Dusk's. What did THAT matter?!
She gave Mehadrin a brief look before shrugging at Dusk. “I'm Tidemist. We seem to be forming a tribe of sorts, since we can't leave.†She gave a wry smile. “It definitely seems to be a few fish short of a school though. We were just discussing whether to try and find someone who might pose a thread to us. Are you a warrior?†She sliced off some more of the eagle, and offered it to Dusk.

Tidemist finished dishing up the food, and began eating her portion of eagle. She glanced in the direction Mehadrin had pointed. This elf could be a threat to the tribe, such as it was. She took a slow breath and nodded mentally to herself. “I think after we eat, me and anyone who else wants to go should try tracking down this elf. I don't think we can let him run around loose...†She screwed her face up a bit as she scented...burnt. It smelled a bit like when a distant volcano would erupt by her cove. “Will anyone volunteer?†She looked around the fire, taking a bite and chewing quietly as she waited for any response.

Tidemist chewed on her bottom lip uncertainly as she took up Tomi's knife and carefully began slicing off pieces of the roasted eagle. She took a momentary glance and saw some leaves that were a little bigger than the hand and decided these would make good momentary plates. She held out her hand and the leaves snapped off their branches and floated to her, one for each of them, and began putting slices of the bird on them. Perhaps if they could be cupped, they could also serve as bowls for the stew. She floated the leaves laden with roast eagle to the others. “I don't know. Your brother was very adamant about the golden skinned High One not being freed. But then he said other things I'm not very sure of...â€
Still the idea of following tempted somewhat. Maybe they could get more information. Maybe the golden skinned one had to be captured. There were too many questions, and not enough answers....
(Tidemist group roll: 5)
Vaeri frowned a bit as she listened to Mehadrin. She didn't know what to make of him. She was glad for the distraction of Tidemist dishing up the roast bird, and was grateful for the little leaf plates she gave, protecting the seamstress' somewhat delicate hands. She began carefully picking at the bits of bird and eating it, feeling a small wash of pride at the flavor. She glanced at Tomi, wondering if she should wake him so he could eat as well. Would it help replenish his strength?

Tidemist gave an abrupt start at the newcomers words in answering Vaeri. She leapt to her feet, looking concerned. “Guyaro is here...or he was earlier. But he left us. And he talked about a golden skinned High One. He said...not to free him. Do you know what he meant?†She watched as he huddled behind Moondrop and raised an eyebrow bemused. Her attention was only momentarily distracted by the smell of the bog that was revealed now, but she would concern herself about that later.
Tidemist took a small steadying breath and put on a friendly smile. “Come, sit by the fire and eat with us. There is plenty of food and the fire is warm.†She gestured towards the roast bird waiting for slicing, and the gently steaming cook pot full of seafood stew.
Vaeri raised her eyebrows, not looking terribly impressed. His answer about the fabrics was utterly useless to her. She would have to speak with this golden skinned elf...but then Tidemist brought up the warning the other red haired elf had said. So it was dangerous perhaps to approach the elf who may have created this interesting fabric. Vaeri gave a mental sigh at this.

“What are you talking about, another red haired elf?†Vaeri looked at Marut, a touch annoyed. What was either of them talking about? She looked around the clearing, wondering if they were seeing something she was missing, but there was no red haired elf anywhere in sight. Then suddenly there was, but it was the female from before. Vaeri couldn't help a small amused smile at her glowering at the spice jars. That chili powder was quite spicy and potent, and if one wasn't careful with it... But this maiden couldn't be the red head they were talking about surely.
Then suddenly there was another red haired elf with one of the other females. How could they have known they were coming? Vaeri was utterly baffled and shook her head before focusing on the newcomer. The fabric of his clothing is what caught her interest more, it looked a bit like moth fabric but was far more shiny. Something like that would make for very fine clothes, and the sheerness...well perhaps a bit revealing but it could help immensely with the heat in Sorrow's End.
Again, the amused smile as the male elf began preening and strutting like a brightly frilled lizard. He did have a very high opinion of himself, though perhaps it was not entirely unwarranted. “Hello Mehadrin, I am Vaeri. Where did you get the fabric for your robe?â€
(Vaeri's group roll: 4)
Tidemist looked at Vaeri a bit confused. “Didn't you get the sending..?†She asked a bit concerned. But the question was lost and forgotten with the arrival of the newcomer. She blinked a bit surprised to see him, and his words, which made her eyebrows both raise up a bit. Why didn't he just go around naked if he liked to show off his body so much? She gave a mental shrug and watched as Vaeri introduced herself before she did likewise. “I'm Tidemist. Welcome to...well I guess it's our little tribe.â€

Tidemist was immensely pleased as the bird cooked, turning a very delicious looking color and it smelled excellent. She saw from the corner of her eye what had happened with Tomi and Marut, but left it to them. She gave a nod of acknowledgment and a smile to Marut in response to his compliment. Then her gaze flickered upwards at the sending entered her mind. She raised her eyebrows some with surprise, and continued turning the spit for the bird. “Well, now I'm double glad we have this stew and this bird to eat. Hopefully should be plenty for everyone and our guest.â€
Vaeri snapped out of her thoughts as Marut spoke, and looked towards Tomi concerned. A moments debate and she rose up, moved around the fire, and sat again beside him. She touched his arm gently, but he was deep asleep. She looked startled as Tidemist suddenly spoke, then looked puzzled at her words. “What guest? We are all here, as far as I can see, and no one new has shown up.â€

Vaeri watched with apprehension as Marut approached Tomi, and the exchange between them. She felt the nerves in the back of her neck prickle at his aggressive reaction. Would something bad have happened to Vaeri if she had tried to get him to stop? She shuddered a little. She watched with some surprise as Marut hefted Tomi easily, then her surprise turned to mild sadness as he carried him away to the stream to wash. She hadn't realized he was so exhausted and it gave her a small pang of guilt.
After a moment, Vaeri walked to the fire quietly and sat down near the flames, gazing pensively into the flickering lights as the scents of the roasting bird began to fill the clearing, a delicious aroma that usually would have given her a spark of pride in her cooking knowledge, in the fact she had perfectly seasoning the poultry, but she was too distracted to notice.

Tidemist had turned her attention from Tomi, but found something nagging for her attention. She sniffed a bit and looked around, then found to her surprise the mist was clearing further. There was a huge grassy field! What possible new wonders might this reveal? But for now there was food and other concerns. Plus exploring a new place during the night was never a good idea. She turned and began to help Vaeri finishing with seasoning the half of the eagle and preparing a spit from some thick sticks to roast it on.
Vaeri couldn't help but chuckle at the jar. Oh this was spicy indeed, and getting a nose full of this would hurt! In fact just a few pinches would do to make something spicy. She gently sealed the jar and put it away. No need to make the bird spicy after all. It had been sprinkled over with salt, marjoram, thyme, rosemary and garlic. She rubbed the spices into the skin and crevasses. She had rather wanted to use the new oven, but mildly deferred to Tidemist. Together, they were able to get the bird spitted and Tidemist began rotating the bird over the flames.
Vaeri headed in the direction Tidemist had come from with water, eventually finding the stream and she carefully washed her hands of the raw meat juices and seasoning before she came back. She looked towards Tomi again with a little worry.

Tidemist was a little bothered by what Marut had said. “....I am sorry that happened....But I don't want to see anyone hurt. I just want to know what's going on here.†Though she had to smile a bit when Marut straightened up her hat. She was debating over whether or not to ask Marut to track Guyaro. Would it help? Or would it simply drive the elf further away and make it harder to talk to him?
Marut's words distracted her from her thoughts and turned to look at Tomi. “You're his friend. You probably know when to tell him to stop. He does look pretty dirty though.â€
(Tidemist's activity roll: 6)
Vaeri looked up in concern when Marut spoke about Tomi and looked over at him. When had he gotten so caked in mud? He was most definitely going to require a bath. She began to rise up to speak to him, then hesitated. Yes she was becoming quite fond of him, but judging from the words, Marut surely had known Tomi longer than her. She mused a moment, watching Tomi before she settled back down calmly. After all, it wasn't like they were recognized. There was no need for urgency. She would only say something if it seemed Tomi was getting stubborn.
She only caught a glimpse of the red haired feral woman as she was picking up a jar of spices and sniffing it, then dropping it to run off quickly. She curiously reached over to see which of the spices the other girl had sniffed.

(also merry Christmas to everyone! Hope they had a good holiday.)

Tidemist looked a little baffled at Marut's words. “Who said anything about killing? I had to stop Tomi from killing him. There's no reason for anyone to die.†She didn't know what to else to say, or even what to think about this. Thankfully she was saved by Moondrop rushing in with some strange clothes and a new kill. She took up a green hat as well and examined it with curiosity and placed it on her head, marveling at the feel of the fabric, like nothing she had imagined. It was so soft and plushy! She couldn't help but giggle a little at the hat.
Vaeri looked up at the mention of strange clothes and abandoned the spices for a moment, which she had begun sprinkling over the eagle half to be roasted. She was intrigued by the clothing, and what the purpose of some of them could be. Bright colors was nothing new to her, the brighter the better was the usual opinion of the Sun Folk. “I do wonder who left them. Could they belong to that elf that was here earlier?â€

Tidemist was a little surprised to see him react in pain. Was he not good at sending? But he got hers despite the pain it seemed. She nodded in response to his questions, affirming them. “I hope he comes around again....but maybe he won't if there's a lot of people around. He's so...angry...†Tidemist frowned a bit more. She didn't pay Rustle any attention as she snagged some of the raw eagle.
Vaeri looked a bit surprised at Tidemist and Marut's conversation. How had she told him about what happened when she hadn't said a word? She watched them a little baffled before she slowly turned her attention to the spices again.

Vaeri was chuckling as Tomi carried her about almost like a kitling, and set her down gently. She saw the look he gave her, and smiled warmly to him in return. She watched him set about working on something else, and turned to help Tidemist with the eagle. Marut had her attention for the moment, so she busied herself by pulling out her jars of seasoning, trying to decide which would be best.
Tidemist looked at Marut and shook her head with a friendly smile. “Oh I think I have enough help with..uh...†She paused then nudged her head towards Vaeri sheepishly, she didn't know what her name was, or she couldn't seem to remember. She was pleased with the bowl like rock though. “I'm sure we'll find a use for this!†but her smile slipped away when she saw the red hair. In fact she began frowning as she recalled the encounter. “Yes, it's a red haired elf...his name is Guyaro...he was here..†and with that, she quietly sent the memory of what happened to Marut. Sending was easier than words in this case, even if he felt her frustration at not knowing what was going on and not being able to get answers.

Vaeri blinked at Tomi as he began laughing, and her expression turned from surprised to skeptical. It still seemed horribly uncivilized to be eating scat. Then she let out a little cry of surprise as he lifted her up. He did it so effortlessly, and carried her as if she weighed nothing at all! She looked down at him, and his words made her laugh, she couldn't help it. This type of savageness she would not entirely mind.

Vaeri almost smiled a little at Tomi's words. Some of them she didn't understand, but she thought she got the general gist, and it was rather cute. She leaned in towards Tomi a bit, not sure how much to say before she murmured softly. “It was barbaric....They were talking about eating animal scat.†Again, the look of disgust passed over her face. They were nice elves but really, did they have to be such savages?
Tidemist looked up as Laluna came over with the cub and smiled, nodding towards the raw parts of the eagle. “I have a tribe of wolf-blooded elves who live near my tribe. They usually preferred their meat raw. Are you wolf-blooded?†She looked at her curiously. She noticed the fox woman and blinked a bit, then shrugged a little. What was the point of being surprised anymore?

Vaeri continued to hug Tomi for a moment, a small nuzzle of her cheek the only response to his gratitude. After a short period, she pulled away gently, but her hand clasped his still, a gentle but firm pressure. She smiled to him and turned to lead him back towards the tree, where she could see Laluna and Marut in the distance. She was a little reluctant to be in their presence again, but with Tomi beside her, it made her feel more at ease.

Tidemist looked up at Laluna and Marut came back. She couldn't help but smile at the wolf cub they had, mildly intrigued to see it up close. Her news about what happened could wait until everyone was gathered, probably while they ate. She had finished cutting the hawk's body and called out to everyone near by. “If any of you prefer raw meat, this bird is ready. Though Vaeri had seasonings if you want to try your meat with it.â€

Vaeri looked up at Tomi as he answered her question, with some hesitation and uncertainty. It was with great relief she heard that he did regret it, even a little, and it sounded like he would never want to be in a scenario like that again. It eased her mind. The knowledge of this and the honesty in his eyes made it easier to accept the path in front of her. She threw her arms around Tomi's scarred shoulders and embraced him tightly, her cheek to his.
“Then I can forgive you Tomi for what you've done, and I won't let it weigh on my mind. I only hope some day it will weigh less on yours as well...â€

A disturbed look passed over Vaeri's face. Somehow she had missed him saying that. She looked into his eyes, her emotions warring inside of her. On the one hand, she wanted to forgive him and not question what he had done. On the other...it somehow seemed deeply wrong that he had done it, in a way it would be wrong if rain rose from the ground to the sky instead of the proper reverse. What was she to do? In all her years, she had never dreamed she'd deal with such a scenario, and all her experience couldn't help her.
“Do...do you at least regret it, even a little? Why would you even have to do such a thing...?â€

Made an old post for Vaeri's original info and stuff, but i decided to delete that and start over fresh now that Vaeri has been tweaked! i didn't much care for her original storyline anymore. and i will include Tidemist as well later on!
Name: Vaeri
Birth-tribe: Sun Folk
Parents: Seri and Firgal
Age: 957 Years old(Wingthing's Alternaverse: nearly 4 thousand years old)
Appearance: Darkly tanned warm brown skin typical of a Sun Villager and bright gold eyes. She has curly auburn hair that's a bit more mahogany colored. She stands a little shorter than the average Sun Folk. She has a somewhat slender but shapely figure. (Wingthing's Alternaverse: Only difference is her height. She's a bit taller than a Wolfrider but Glider height.)
Attire: Typically wears teal-blue moth fabric and cotton fabrics. Her Sun Village outfit is a top with blue enameled beads lining under the bust from which hangs a short sheer moth fabric. She has sheer sleeves that are off the shoulder and attached to the top with gold overlaid fabric, which also lines the bustline of the top. She has a skirt that is around her hips and goes to ankle length, which is very full and has many ruffles. She has a sheer mini skirt overlay. Tends to wear gold gauntlets and dangling earrings. Also tends to wear a blue starburst sapphire( or 8 pointed star) pendant on a gold necklace, and has a blue cord cirlet with more blue enameled beads and a small gold and sapphire circle in the center. Blue and gold slippers with blue beads up the calves.
(Wingthing's Alternaverse: Wears red dyed snake skin leathers and red moth fabric. Has the same top design as her original top but in red and no gold. She wears short shorts with a sash around the top of her pants and a loincloth panel. She wears sandals made from leather and red beads. Also wears a red bead necklace with snakes fangs attached to the center, and a red cord across her forehead with red beads sewn onto it.
Role: Tailor(Wingthing's Alternaverse: a Red Snake and tailor)
Skills: Making fabric, designing and sewing clothes, cooking.(Wingthing's Alternaverse: Can also glide, rockshape, and send.)
Personality: Wise, kind, gentle, patient.(Wingthing's Alternaverse: Wise, patient, fierce, cool, extremely devoted)
Background: Born to her parents in Sorrow's End, she has lived a peaceful life. She discovered a passion for clothes and sewing, and eventually became a tailor to the Sun Folk. She has not recognized anyone and is content to wait for it to happen, and merely lives her life in contentment. She is pretty much a fairly typical Sun Villager.(Wingthing's Alternaverse: Born to parents ,who once lived as children in Sorrows End, about 6 thousand years after their flight. She was a treasured child, as her parents had begun to give up hope they would recognize naturally and have to have it forced to have a child. She developed a love early in life for the soft moth fabrics and beads, and often wore them as a child. Because of the stories told to her by her parents, she developed a deep hatred for humans and what they have done to elves over the millenia of their stay on Abode, to the point she holds no tolerance for them. As she became a teenager, she discovered her love for making clothes and apprenticed herself to one of the tailors of Oasis to learn the basics.
By time she was at a near age of maturity, she had developed a deep respect and almost awe for Melati and what she could do. Inspired by the powerful adopted daughter of Lord Haken, she began devoting herself to learning magic. She discovered a natural dormant talent for floating, and developed it as high as she could. But she believed in Lord Haken's belief any elf could learn any magic, and began gradually learning rockshaping, to the point where she could manage, but she has little stamina for it and tires quickly.

Tidemist was so absorbed in her thoughts, she didn't hear what Tomi had said. She was trying to puzzle out what had happened, who Guyaro was, and what it all meant. She went to the hawk and began cutting the body in half. Those who wanted raw meat could eat what they wanted, and half could be cooked, and the remainder of the raw meat could be cooked later on if needed.
Vaeri smiled a bit to Tomi. “I understand. He had a weapon? I wonder why he didn't draw it. He seemed angry enough to.†She glanced at camp, seeing Laluna and Marut walking together with something that looked like a jackal cub, but with more fur. And Tidemist was working on the bird again. “I'm going to help her with seasoning the bird. Perhaps we'll be able to give the wonderful oven you've built a new try.†She smiled more, trying to cheer him.

“A little bitterness is nothing to be concerned about. I've dealt with worse.†Tidemist said a bit sternly. Then things devolved very quickly, and suddenly Guyaro was crying and running off. Tidemist called and sent his name at the same time but in vain. He was gone, and still too much mystery swirling around, like the mist that had hidden him from few. She looked at the sheepish Tomi with some mild frustration and let out a little breath. “If he comes around again, I think it best you stay far away from him Tomi. He knows things, things we don't. And it could be very important. We should discuss this with the others...†She wandered slowly back to the tree, looking very deep in thought.
Vaeri stood near Tomi a bit, tensed and ready for the worse to happen. But things did not end nearly as bad as she thought they would, though the elf did sound like a kitling throwing a bit of a tantrum when he ran off. She watched Tidemist walk away with a raised eyebrow then turned to Tomi, touching his shoulder gently in a silent gesture of minor comfort and support.

She was a little annoyed when he began laughing at her. But at least he hadn't made some retort about that not being his name, so she was on some kind of track. But why was he so determined to stay away from them? Then there was mud in his face and that had shut him up in a hurry. Tidemist turned and saw Tomi approaching them, with a weapon no less. She moved a bit to be between Tomi and Guyaro. “There's no need to hurt him Tomi. There's just things we don't understand. He surely has some reason to be angry, and spilling blood won't help us learn anything.†She frowned a bit.
Vaeri had been watching the discussion between Tidemist and the red haired elf with a skeptical expression. Why was he so rude and angry? And what was he talking about with a High One nearby? Wouldn't it be a good thing to have a High One to help them and watch over them? High Ones were a matter of awe and respect, not fear. And she was fairly shocked when she saw Tomi taking a handful of mud from the oven making and flinging it at the elf! Then he was up and advancing on the elf with an ax. She quickly got up and followed after him, ready to throw herself on him to try and hold him back if he started a fight. It seemed Tidemist was of the same opinion a fight was to be avoided.

“Well you can't blame me if it happens, if you won't tell me how to stop it.†She retorted back, standing a little taller. She wasn't a chief for nothing after all, and she wasn't one to back down because of some anger. Then she heard the name in her mind and had a momentary rush of fear and disorientation, until she realized it wasn't a soulname. She frowned a little, still a bit disturbed. She decided to try a gambit. If she failed, she'd only look a fool but might convince the redhead maybe he was the one mistaken and mistook her for another elf. But if she succeeded, maybe..
“Guyaro, being angry solves nothing, and will never help anything. Maybe we need your help instead of the other way around. Maybe I need your help.â€
