In Ember as Cinderella 1 of 4 - Posted Nov 17, 2024
Wow! Now WHO'S breaking the speed record and holding down a month?! Of course I agree with the amazingly stunning contrast of Ember's hair against the background. So very eye catching and mesmerizing! I also personally love the color of the hair. I can achieve it but can never get it to come through the evil scanning process. The horse is very gorgeous as well, melding into the background but still somehow at the same time breaking free of it. Love the contrast of the eyes against the snowy white fur. The front leg closest to the viewer seems a little off, but I can't seem to figure out how. Either way, it is a very difficult angle to achieve and it is most effectively done. It seems to be galloping right off the image to the viewer! The background has a simple yet realistic quality to it that truly reflects the mood of the overall illo. I admit I've never seen or even heard of the movie and will have to check it out when I get the chance. Sounds interesting (and frankly, I think men looked better in the 70s). Also love hazelnuts. I'd have ruined my own story by eating them before implementing them for my wonderful future. Been meaning to comment on this since you posted it, but it's been a long week and I've been so grossly deprived of sleep. And I have to work today (Sunday, I'm back on weekend rotation). Can't wait to see the next installment! Keep'em coming!

Wow! I am in complete agreement with Treefox! I think this is one of, if not your best I’ve seen. The dynamic pose, the colors, if I recall the character correctly, I think you nailed the look and personality. Maybe most importantly, I think you are closest to the Pini features for her. Which is odd since I believe the story was not illustrated by Wendy. Anyway, I really like this one and I’m certain Kitulven is/will be very happy! Wildfire looked great, Hummer looks amazing, I can see you’re improving with each illo you post (even if they’re not posted in order of when drawn). Keep up the wonderful work!

I think gold was a better, more appropriate choice mostly because gold seemed to be more common among the Wolfriders, elves in general, than silver. With silver, you might have been able to add more highlights to it adding a bit more color and life, but in the end, gold just seems more "correct." I imagine the butterflies took a long time, I could tell, and I bet it took forever to color, too! The subtle colors of the background showing through their wings was well done. I am enjoying the series, and I'm sure I'm not the only one. I am working on art to post, including finishing the original calendar submission that had to be scrapped. Maybe we can encourage more artists to be active!

Oh, there she is! Very lovely! I think the contrast colors of the cloak balances the blues of the upper half of the illo. I imagine it couldn't be easy for her to be Bearclaw's lifemate, but she was devoted, loved him, and seemed to make it work. I realize so much work went into this and the focus is her, but I can't help but stare in awe of the jewelry and flowers. The jewelry has so much detail that it looks 3D and the flowers have a gorgeous art nouveau quality to them, almost ethereal. I think the use of blue in the shading on her skin was a good choice and is very beautifully done. I'd make it look like she was a zombie. You captured her calm, serene personality wonderfully. Another stunning addition to your portrait series! Not to push it, but I look forward to the next one, they're so amazing!

Awww, she looks so happy generating the flames from her hands! That expression is what really draws me in, and the hand looks surprisingly delicate for the task. What medium did you use for this? I’m always trying to find new colors, especially red, since my scanner loves to mangle it. I agree the black really makes this more dramatic. I hope Wildfire enjoys this!

Oooo! That's looking and sounding ominous! Love how much you've worked into the background, really brings the illo to life. I have no issues with experimenting using a variety of media, I say go for it! It reminds me a lot of a really well drawn cell from a storyboard.
And I'm missing you, my friend!

Oh, she's lovely! And I need to do more nudging if this is the result! Great to finally see Treefox and the ideas in my head are numerous. Love the soft colors in the hair, and the Pike-esque nose gives her a lot of character. Yes, you said you had that in life, but it's great that it is shown in the sELF portrait. She looks as relatable as you actually are. Love the full body portrait and the ferns as background. Somehow seems very warm and inviting yet ethereal. As soon as I get the modifications done to my calendar illo, I need to hit up those ideas with Treefox as well as what we had discussed about the challenge(s).
Good luck on your exam! You can do it!

Thank you, Czarine! But there’s no need, I actually sent the original to Berit when I finished it and he’s since posted it to his art website (listed/linked in a couple of places on this site). I assume he has since also shown it to Insertio. It’s been WAY too quiet from Finland! How are you three doing? Stop being strangers!

Hurray! Glad our conversation was taken to heart! Poor August, languishing in nothingness, but let's see what can be done for September. I like her design, although, is that a fur top? Well, it's minimal, so I doubt it's too warm for the plains. For some reason, what's drawing me in the most is the hair against the skin. It just seems a really lovely combination! For whatever reason, I'm thinking Fawnpace or Fawnrun for her (hey, those little things have got to be fast to survive!). Either way, she's lovely and certainly living up to her tribe's name! I said I'd try and dig up mine, but with all the moving I've done in the last five turns, it might be a while. Keep'em coming!

Didn't intend a come-hither look, but glad you think so. Good looking guy, Mykel! Hope I did him justice!

Damn it! I had a reply and it suddenly vanished on me. Ah well. Thank you! I enjoyed drawing this, although I had to seriously edit this down because it was just too damn huge to remotely squeeze onto my scanner. On the left side of Bill I had the main characters from Gravity Falls and on the right I also had Nightstorm and Torridspell (Dawnrise's Recognized mate that was certain her dual swords would actually have an effect). I originally wanted to use a cannon character for this, but no one seemed to work for the idea, so I fell back on the old RPG. Dawnrise was just too perfect for this. And he is loving every second of it.
In Sandsparkle - Posted Aug 09, 2024
This is absolutely a perfect pinup illo! Really don't have a lot of fan art for Sandsparkle, and honestly, I don't have much an idea of who she is to begin with. She needed more time in the limelight, but your illo of her makes me more curious of her and want to learn more. Love the sexy puckered lips, the angle of the body is gorgeous, but her butt and thigh seem a bit heavy, but somehow, it flatters her. Curves can be very sexy! You do great work, would love to see more art from you!
In Growing up - Posted Jul 29, 2024
She looks quite content with herself and/or her situation. Would've loved to see the colors on her, such a lovely lady. Miss your art!
In Cervidtaur Leora - Posted Jul 29, 2024
It doesn't appear that way to me now, either. So, maybe I had to get out and back into the website or someone corrected it for me. Either way, it does look correct now. Thank you for the compliment and the wish! I also did one of Leora as a merelf and a butterfly winged fairy alongside a unicorn. Had no idea she actually HAD a unicorn! Well, live and learn. Anyway, glad to have you back in the fold, eagerly anticipating some new art from you!
In Marut hanging out with a ladybird - Posted Jun 24, 2024
Where I live, we call them "winter guests" because when it starts to cool off, they swarm and try to get indoors. There they hibernate in your home/business until it warms again then they find a way out. I actually love them and welcome them in the house. So cute to see how happy he is with the ladybug in his hair (generally in the US they're called ladybugs), and I agree it's good to see him smile and not being smacked by hair or abused by someone (intentionally or not).
In Bright Frost - Posted Jun 22, 2024
Yes, the boobs are too close and the one closest to the viewer a little small for the chest itself. But I completely agree she is a lovely lady, the Wolfriders' problem for not accepting her. I also love the eyes, hair, and freckles, they all just come together to make her intriguing along with that expression. Now that work has slowed down a bit, I feel the need to draw more (and now have the time, too), and she inspires me. In fact, many of your characters have such personality and unique design that they inspire me.
In Bearclaw - Posted Jun 22, 2024
Holy shit, Treefox! You have outdone yourself with this! Even the miniscule thumbnail had me impressed! And now I need to stop using the exclamation points before I lose the emphasis. The coloring is so vivid and lifelike that Bearclaw just jumps out of the flat 2D and grabs you. I agree that the storm background is more appropriate for him, and I think the colors you used help bring him even more to life. He himself was a storm, and the cool greens of the dense forest contrast the hot temper of the character. He's got that wild expression, again matching the storm. Somehow, it seems he has absorbed the badger's temperament for himself so the badger can be calm and relaxed. And that badger is perfectly rendered! The gleam off of Newmoon and the wolf's head pendant is just gorgeous. The bear skin cloak, Joyleaf's headband vines/flowers...amazing. It may have driven you nuts, but for the viewer, it all came together with perfection and was worth it. And here I was trying not to log in to the website or turn on my computer - silly me! What a reward! I wish I could come up with more praise, but not feeling well, so this was the best I could do. Keep up the gorgeous work, don't put that pencil (or equivalent) down!
In Ah-Ha! I Knew It! - Posted Jun 20, 2024
I decided to finally include some kind of background for him, so I went nuts on it. Yeah, he loves nature and being out in it, even as a cub. Starting inking the jam session, hope to finish it at some point.
In Moonshade - Posted Jun 20, 2024
Wow, the coloring in this is amazing! It has this mix of pastel and painting to it that really sets a mood. I could never manage to blend the colors that way, I would make it look like it was all a mistake. For me, this just seems like a transition for Moonshade from her traditional Wolfrider personality/mentality to her (albeit strange) sudden Palace Dweller state. It has the feel of her embracing and accepting her choice. Never seen "House," so can't comment on that.
And welcome back! Don't stay away so long again!
In Well hi there handsome - Posted Jun 19, 2024
I suspect Shenshen wouldn't have trouble making a pass at Marut when sober. Most of the ladies in Sorrow's End were very flirty and...uh...friendly. I've been considering drawing Marut meeting up with Rainforest. At least regarding romance, they have the same opinion!
