Well, I like both versions!
Ok, one can see, that the new Blacksnake is more skillfully done, but the face and especially the eyes are great on the left piece. Very expressive. In my opinion, drawing faces of older persons/elves is very hard.

You also got the knack with male bodies! I like how you give only the hint of muscles compared to those heavy muscled guys one can usually find in comics.
