2010 Fan Art Calendar: JUNE
What were the moments that made the various Jackwolf Riders decide that they wanted to step into a role that had never been their way? And what was life like for those Wolfriders that had turned away from The Way, finding their place in the peaceful lives of the Sun Folk? Between the Wolfrider and the Sun Villager, who is the dirt digger, and who is the fierce huntress?

This is a really fabulous idea, to focus on those we rarely see... though of course now I want to know all about this girl! You've given her a whole story with one picture! And the perspective is of course wonderful (but you are the Perspective Queen ) -- though I think I'm with you, I ♥ Random Slackjawed Background Dude especially!

I can always rely on you to contribute a piece that is full of action and dramatic perspectives (dare I say comic-booky?) - this is what separates the portrait artists from the storytellers! Instead of concentrating on a character, you concentrate on an EVENT. Same with your Savah/Yurek piece last year - it didn't show just a magic user with glowy hands, it was a magical happening with a whole back-story.
I have to say that this is probably the best portrayal of the theme in this year's calendar. Not an expected portrayal certainly, but it very clearly shows the CHOICE that is made when finding one's place. |

I love the concept too, and then you also go ahead and make it look so smashing good!!
I love how you've managed to get all the focus on her, with the perspective and her darker colors set against that light blue sky - it looks so friendly but the ground keeps hidden dangers! So much story in this, so well done. Can't help but be amused by the random gawking guy though. |

My Color-Queen has strikes again! Amazing picture contents, amazing character portrayal, amazing colors. The angle of this pic is so movie-like almost. The viewer basically sits on the ground besides Newstar and looks up. Very original. And I like the little details like Newstar sitting on a sort of cushion.

I love in this how the drama of the moment is emphasized by the drama of the figure, with her rich, dark colors and swirling hair -- and what a contrast she makes with pale Newstar in the foreground. The perspective on her whole figure it also just... whoa, the big, shining head of the hoe sweeping forward. Man, perfectly dynamic. Beautifully painterly, too.

That looks very dynamic. The Vietnamese style rice hat with earholes on the background elf is just great.
