A elfquestfanart exclusive! I've posted this no where else.
This sketch requires an explaination.
I was chatting with a member of the old Gazers fan site and the subject of same sex elfin relationship came up and why intimate moments are not shown though we all know they happen. Of course the answer is that the Pinis want to keep EQ mainstream but sneak such "radical" ideas in subtly.
So I was challenged to depict Cutter/Skywise in a manner that left no doubt that they were intimate (but was tasteful), but that wouldn't send the homophobes away screaming.
Very difficult challenge! This sketch leans way to the side of being tasteful and I think something like this could appear in the comics, but I have others....

I *thought* this was new...how exciting!
 I think you succeeded in your goal, though I cannot say for sure, not being homophobic and inclined to run away. The top one is especially endearing...their body language is very natural and fitting. The second...I'm still undecided. I think it's Skywise's smile that's throwing me off...when I cover it, the picture works for me. *puzzled* |

Lovely work. They do look like they fit quite well together, and I think it's rather tasteful and sensual.

I must say I don't find this very sexual, but more emitting a sense of total trust and comfort. Probably for me, those two just belong together (in every way).
Anyway, this is a gorgeous drawing that just hits home! |

I knew I hadn't seen this one either. Really lovely work. I think you're right, it does tip the scales towards tasteful intimacy. But I think that's fine. There's a sweetness here that is so rarely drawn. love this. |

This is one of my favourites of yours. They just look so right together, so loving and happy and trustful. Any chance of seeing the others you mentioned? (Perhaps with a mature label??)

Aww, lovely! I don't really find it sexual, but is does show they're lovers somehow - like this is not a way 'non-lovers' would cuddle. Hard to put into words really.
Oh, and I second Paper Ghost's idea . We're all adults here, right?

Thanks for all the comments. Foxeye, the expression on Skywise in the second pic is due to the "story" I was thinking behind the scene. I figure this would be fairly soon after Cutter lost his parents and became chief. I thought it natural that he and Skywise would den together and take comfort in each other, since Skywise also lost Foxfur at that time. Anyway, I figure in the first pic, Cutter is telling Skywise about the troubles of being chief, and in the second Cutter has fallen asleep and Skywise has that little "big brother" slightly patronizing smile.
Let's see which of the others I have scanned and can post - probably not too many. |

Aww, that story makes it even cuter! I too always thought that they denned together after Madcoil. This is sooooooo tender
