Lost Seven: Grim-Spring

Grim-Spring is part of a group of Wolfriders that disappeared during a exploration trip in Goodtree's era and found later by Shadow-Dancer in Bearclaw's time.
Grim-Spring is ancient for a wolfrider, being born in Freefoot's time as the son of Eldolil. Despite of his current name, Grim-Spring is happy and jovial, having loved and lost plenty, experienced many terrible times in his life and survived them.
He's about 2500-3000 years old.

Oooo, an elder Wolfrider! He looks great and so friendly. I immediately want to chat with him. So, he got the name because he was born during a grim spring?

That's what what I was going for! From what I have down, he's had several names over the years (He's on his fourth) and they tend to reflect something about himself/how he feels.
‘I don’t believe I caught your name when we were bringing your friends here?’ Shadow-Dancer said and sat down next to him. The other elf chuckled and nodded. ‘I’m Grim-Spring.’ ‘...very foreboding name, isn’t it?’ Another chuckle. ‘It fit once. Terrible season. Bad hunts, bad weather, accidents,snakes...' He pointed to his battered looking ear. 'Captured by a very confused human.’ |

I don't get the notion the human was actually trying to kill him. They just thought there was something wrong with him and tried to cut his ear to make him 'right'.

Eldolil was one of my favorite characters in BOTC. His story with Oakroot was the first thing I tried to comic from an Elfquest story. How alike are they? Does he have any wolf blood?
