Something I drew as I was testing out how well some old markers worked... Marut face turned out all goofy!... man, I wish I had more time and energy to visit here more often... but alas, my life has been quite a mess lately...

But the expression does suit though, as if he is surprised that the squrrel willingly went on his arms. I must say I like the colors in this pic, despite being old markers the colors are really bright! I also like his hair. I'm sorry your life is a mess right now, hopefully it sorts out. :)

I haven't had much time to do much of anything, but I had to reply to this one. My life has been extremely messy and turned upside down as well, and next week it'll get even worse. I never understand why you always say an illo didn't turn out when it does. You have a knack for using media few others would and owning it. If I tried, I shudder to even think. You did really well with the skin tone, a strong implied shading of his clothes, defining his hair with high-and lowlights, and giving the tree some depth in the bark.  As for the squirrel, I have to admit, I can only laugh. How perfectly appropriate for today! A squirrel had woken my mother by doing something on the roof over her bedroom and she asked me to handle it. I went outside, chased it back and forth (as best I can with my injured knees) until the squirrel thought it was safe behind some branches against the side of the house. Well, I had the rolled up newspaper still in my hands, so I threw it and nailed that nasty little thing; never seen a squirrel scamper as fast in my life. I can't believe I pegged a squirrel with a newspaper! Again, not to worry; it's fine, but I think it decided to deal with the angry dog next door than hang around. Anyway, great illo, and stop worrying about the final product! Oh, and I love the pose with his right arm extended out to the tree trunk; gives a more dimensional quality to it.

*hugs all of you*
Yes, life doesn't seem to be easy lately... :(
All the more impressive that you managed to draw this lively and colorful picture. I also enjoy the brightness of everything, the clothes, the leaves, the tree bark and the squirrel itself. It's darn adorable!
Looking at this, I was wondering if I would be able to draw a squirrel without reference. I don't think I could...
You are missed here, Berit!

Ah! didn't notice the comments here for some reason! thank you all for commenting!

Amberfox: Well, I always see lot's of flaws! yeah, I can be happy with the flaws, but it is impossible to make the one "perfect" picture! you know what I mean! Ah! you hit a squirrel! that's rare! good to know it's alright though! squirrels are odd creatures, they often seem like they are not right in the head, though I think they are nice, as I've raised a few orphaned squirrels during my time... would never recommend one as a pet though...

Treefox: yeah, it's getting alright, had few annoying hospital visits and such... but it's over now, luckily! Hahah! thanks for the nice comment, well, there are a lot of things wrong with the squirrel, for one, it's way too small... seeing how some squirrels over here can be size of a hare and to think how small the elves are...

Man, let's hope you can stay out of the hospitals for evaaah! Yeah! Good to hear that, Berit!
Actually, now I am down, because we lost our beloved black tom cat, but you know that feeling, right?
So far the year's starting horribly, so hearing good news really helps!

Oh no... I'm so sorry to hear that... and eerily reminds me of my black cat, Olga, who passed away near halloween... I really feel for you... and if there is anything I can do to make you feel better, don't be afraid to ask... I am so sorry for you loss... damn... life is cruel...

Thank you very much!  Still need to realize that he won't be there when we come home any more and that he won't cuddle up between us. That's life as well, but it's OK to miss the ones we loved, right?

Yeah, I know the feeling... When Olga's sister, Vivi died (also near Halloween... what was with this years Halloween?) Vivi had this habit of being VERY LOUD with purring and meowing since she was so old that she had gone slightly deaf... suddenly the house feels awfully quiet now that she is not here... Olga on the other hand was silent but always snuck up right next to me... and now the place where she was is... empty... when I look I only see the bed sheets next to me, not the happy black face and sharp yellow eyes that said "hello!" every time I looked... it is sad feeling that... when you notice something warm missing...
