Another updated character illo I'll post again a little later with the original concept illo done years ago. Need to add border and background, though. Anyway, Poisonthorn is a bit of a tortured soul, raised by a very Winnowill-like mother (Poison of Whisper Vine Holt, both character and holt run by Laurey Sebok). He really never understood or knew of kindness or love until he stumbled upon Arion Morgan's Hawkfeather. He was just one angry, nasty critter, but now he's a devoted lifemate and father. She's also teaching him how to play nice and with others. It's a work in progress, anyway. Poisonthorn is mine, so is World Paths Holt.

It must be hard having Winnowill like mother, I feel sorry for him... but it is nice that he has found something worth living for! maybe We will see a family picture some day? would be neat!... pose is nice and I like the shadowing on the muscles as well as the shading on the pants! (I really suck at doing black leather) nice details over all! and it would be nice to know more of him!...

It was very difficult for him, but he never knew better until he left his mother's kingdom - she ruled over the trolls with quite the iron fist. I believe she had his father killed by trolls shortly after answering the demands of Recognition. So, he wasn't sad or fearful; he himself became cruel and a tyrant. Very cold and sociopathic. He encountered Hawkfeather and her personality, her very soul, really snapped him out of it (slowly but surely, it's a work in progress). I need to work with Laurey on if Poison ever met up with him again what would happen...hmmm....A family illo? I actually considered it, I think I'll have to do one now! Maybe have Poison looming in the background. Thank you for the comments; I think I'm in a transition and I'm not sure if I'm doing okay. Somehow, I think proportions are off. Any ideas?

Oh wait, Mom surrounded herself with giant mutant spiders. She used their poison to their full potential, and I think she used it to kill Poisonthorn's father. Drat, it's been so long since Blackfawn and I worked on that story...Anyway, I think I have a really old illo of Poison around my house somewhere. She's sitting at a throne designed from a giant spider with webs all over the place.

Even if the picture about his mother is old, I'd like to see it if you want to show it! I think this all sounds awesome about the characters! are the mutant spiders related to her (like wolves to wolfriders) or something else? and proportions... hmmh... you know! I'm not the best to say! I always just doodle away without thinking about things like that!... but maybe... I don't know... I'd probably say that their feet could be a little bigger, it might even some things out? not sure though!...

Yeah, my mother gets after me for drawing small feet, but then again, my own feet are miniscule. As for the mutant spiders, it's just been so long, but I THINK they're the result of fouled magic and some forced experimentation on the part of Poison. I think Poison herself is who she is because she was bitten so often by very venomous spiders but somehow survived that it impacted her brain. I did find one other illo I did of her where she is watching with glee as two giant spiders cocoon Whisper Vine elves in the old troll tunnels. I even went back and re-read the story I illoed years ago where Whisper Vine finally realized who and what she was and went to war with her.

I just think that is you drew male characters. it might be best to draw slightly bigger feet, for often men have larger feet than women... but I really can't say anything else that might help... Poison sounds cool! hey, if she has been bitten that many times, has her blood gotten poisonous? for what I hear, it might happen to people who handle poisonous animals and get bitten often.. the body starts creating it's own antidote for the poison, but this antidote in the poison actually turns the blood poisonous for others...

You're absolutely right, but it's just something I'm going to have to be very conscious of in the future. Oh, and my mother has rather large feet, so where my tiny ones came from...Anyway, Well, people exposed to venom and toxins develop antibodies to them which helps the body prevent the toxins and venoms from causing a lot of harm or damage. The antibodies link up to the venom/toxin molecules to prevent them from linking to the necessary cell or organ to cause harm. I'm trying to give a really simple biology lesson, hope I'm not being confusing. it's a similar principle to how vaccines work. Anyway, Poison likely has developed oodles of antibodies to her spiders' venom, and it wouldn't surprise me that you could take her blood, filter the antibodies out, and make antivenom with it. Still, if you have healers hanging around, who needs to go through all that trouble?

She would have useful blood, but of what I know of her, she probably wouldn't let anyone use her blood for that, if she didn't get something out of the deal... not sure if I'm right, though!...

She would likely put straight spider venom or some other toxin in her blood before handing it over. Then she'd sit back and watch as people suffered and died. That would definitely be Poison.
