Rayek and Clearbrook

One thing I love about EQ is all the what - ifs.  Been wanting to try this one for awhile. Not quite what I want yet, but good practice.

Oh yes! THAT! WOULD! BE! GREAT!
Two of my favourite characters. And they would fit quite well I think. She would make such a calm cushion for his temper and ambitions and bring him back to the floor. Oh well, but then, Venka sometimes does exactly this job. Anyway I like this picture very much. And you definitely are good at drawing Rayek. :)

It's funny. I started reading EQ in the early 80's and never really thought much about Rayek as a character until a couple of years ago, when I started writing and drawing. But I've probably done more stuff with him as a character than anyone else. For some reason, he's just so much fun to stick in odd pairings and AUs.

Black and white gives golden? *scratches head* ;) But then I was never good at heredity lessons in biology.
Also: Is that the first association? What cubs they would have? Interesting. :)

I NEVER would've thought of this combination, but I agree it would be an interesting pairing based on personalities and the obvious coloration opposites. The profile of Rayek gets my attention; it is done extremely well (although maybe a little sharper in features?). Clearbrook's face seems just slightly flat, maybe around the nose or perhaps the lips or chin...something. Than again, it just might be my imagination. As for genetics, it's difficult to say. They could very well have golden haired cubs if both had the recessive genes for it (and we don't know that; it could extend far back in the lineage).

Definitely something I never would have thought of, as these two have close to zero contact. That would be lovely cubs, indeed!

I really have no feeling for them as a couple, drawing this purely for aesthetic reasons, but they did have some contact. She was witness to his seduction/manipulation by Winnowill, and then escorted him back to the palace after Blue Mountain fell. Can you imagine if Recognition had happened then, while he was drunk with power and dealing with his feelings about Kahvi and the loss of his child, and she looking for closure from her lifemate's death? And all under the pining Treestump's nose? Talk about drama!

And it's kind of funny that you made those comments about their profiles, Amberfox. I really struggled with Clearbrook's. EQ elf profiles are very weird, with their really small noses. I don't usually use references when I draw, but I looked at several Clearbrook profiles drawing this to help it look more like her. I think Rayek's profile is good, but I don't think it's very EQ. But he's so recognizable I don't feel like I need to be as true for him.
