Hair-craft

Our last contest's theme was "arts & crafts", which I'm stretching a bit conceptually here to include "hair-dressing" as... well, one of those, or perhaps both of those.  ;)  Given our tribe's level of technology, they won't have scissors, so I looked up some references on how people cut hair with straight-razors.  Starskimmer, being a rockshaper, has an advantage in being able to easily create her own tools.

Blacksnake's dubious look came out grumpier than I meant it to.  I didn't really have a firm idea for why the two Preservers would be gathering up the cut bits of his hair, except vaguely that it's a similar color to their wrapstuff; the two shown, Flutterby and Muckabout, are our two "crafty" Preservers, so perhaps they have creative uses for it known only to themselves.

There's a lot that I sort of don't like about the piece, but I did it in a rush, so I can't blame anyone but myself.  It was fun to conceive of and do, though.

The usual: brush-pen inks, Copic coloring, some assembly and effects in Photoshop.

This is a really creative execution of the theme, I think. I wouldn't have guessed that it was rushed. To me Blacksnake's expression looks more doubting than grumpy.
The only thing I noticed is that Starskimmer's mouth looks slightly odd. Maybe too close to the nose?

Haha, for me it seems like Blacksnake doesn't really like "hair-crafting", but he's too kind to just leave, so he just sits and waits for it to be done.
