Beyond found a new cat.
He was feeling.... Well, down to the extreme. So he gets a free kitten.

I spent around five hours absolutely fangirling over the black and white version. I am not even kidding.
My god. I love everything about this picture. The battling colors, and how they are everywhere in the picture. I absolutely love the pose and the placement in the drawing. (And Beyond's abs, by Loki I swear, he's never going back to his trickster clothing again.) His hands really caught my eyes. They are so damn well drawn. The markings and the coat itself is just perfect. The color is the absolute right one. I love how the kitten's fur matches Beyond's paling hair. And the kitten...it's just...perfect. It's adorable. I think I'm seriously getting thing for hooded characters. For me it adds so much when the eyes are hidden. It makes the part of the expression we do see so much more meaningful. |

There is so much to love here. Have to start that I like his abs, he looks a bit like a friend of mine, a wiry thing, but so strong. He always "almost" kills me with his hugs of when we need muscle power. How you didn't ink his body, and the texture you used on the cape. How you're corresponding the coloring of the kitten with Beyond. He looks fabulous!

@Nilla: I was there for at least half of it . Thank you! I didn't want a plain background and the battling colors to express his battling moods was what came to mind. (Hopefully he will never go back to his trickster clothing. I swear, everytime I draw him now, he wants his cat costume.) I never pay enough attention to hands. And Beyond, along with his legs, seems like the person to have really strong and just lovely hands.
@Startear: Thank you, thank you! I wish I had a friend like that, he seems like an interesting person. I tried a new technique to coloring this one because of how sketchy the original piece was. I was surprised at how short of time it took and I definitely will use this technique yet again in the very very near future. |

This should definitely be watched full-sized! Finally I was able to do that.
It's a really interesting, uplifting and actually pretty cute picture. I really like that coloring style, too. It looks quite intuitive and wild. The light dark color transition is wonderful. Really, it looks like the kitten is leading him out of depression into the light. And we all know kittens do that! Also it's a very interesting and nice texture you put on the cat coat. I just think that Beyond could need a little more contrast on skin and hair. In small size I couldn't really tell clearly what was what. But it also adds to the halo that the kitten seems to emit. |

Stunning! I admired the sketch nilla shared on EQ.com ... but the finished version is breathtaking.
I can only second so much that was already said about pose and background, the hands and the coloring. The flow or coat and sleeves is incredibly harmonic. Yet - what caught my eyes most is the kitten. You ... made it look ALIVE! I often see that excellent artists fail to capture a cat's shape and spirit. You succeeded in perfection. This kitten is adorable. And I love how the fur matches Beyond's hair in color and softness. |
