Portrait of Nightfall

I've been an Elfquest fan for almost 21 years and I've been drawing Wendy's characters for that long, too. And of all the EQ characters, I've drawn Nightfall by far the most often. She's my favorite, what can I say?
But in some ways I never really felt I've truly captured her on paper. Yeah, I have some Nightfall stuff here in this gallery I've drawn over the past several years that I do like. But I'm on a quest to really draw the perfect Nightfall...well as perfect as she can be drawn by my amateur hands and not Wendy's. I think this piece here is a nice stepping stone on the way to that...

So gorgeous and golden. Lovely colors you have chosen. While this is closer to Wendy' s style, I hope you will not give up your own.

Assuming I do have a style (maybe a wanna-be Wendy), I'll not abandon it. What I want is to simply get better at drawings these pointy-eared little devils the best I can, really.

Of course, Nightfall is one of my all-time favorites as well! You are improving and I wouldn't try to imitate Wendy completely, but I do understand your wanting to just be better (sigh, same here). I really love how detailed you have made her nose, as strange as that sounds; I myself am terrible at it. There are two things that you might want to change if you can that might improve on this already wonderful image of our beloved Nightfall: her eyes are slightly off. Not by much, but the eye closest to the viewer is a little larger by both upper and lower lids. Her lips are also a little off; they should be moved slightly away from the viewer. If nothing else, the arch in the upper lip should be more in line with the nose. Still, I think you've done a beautiful job.
