One of my friend’s selfelf, Repsak.

Nilla:Ok,  how tall do you want your character to be?

Komatsu:How tall is Prettythingslover’s (his boyfriend) character?

Nilla: Eh, lemme see. *Flips through papbers* That character is rather tall, she’s from the first generation.

Komatsu:Hmm. I want to be taller.

Nilla:K. *notes that down* What about hair? Length?Colour?

Komatsu: Hmmm.Bald?

Nilla: Oh god no.

Komatsu: To boring?

Nilla: For me to draw, yes. And I don’t think it would actually fit your character that much…

Komatsu: I see your point. Ponytail?

Nilla:I can do that. Colour? Length?

Komatsu:Black. Long, doesn’t really matter.

Nila:K, what about eye colour?

Komatsu: Pink.

Nila: What?

Komatsu: Pink.

Nilla:PINK?

Nilla:Yeah, pink!

*Puts down pencil and looks at Komatsu*

Nilla:Pink?

Komatsu:Pink.

Nilla: You sure about that?

Komatsu: that or neon blue.

Nilla: Ok ok. Pink it is.

Pink eyed characters are the best!

Actually, I think he made an interesting choice, too often people think about gender when they decide eye color... but if you think about it, gender has nothing to do with eye color... and pink eyes can be threaening in certain circumstances... so I think this character stands out... like the hair-do, by the way!...

Oh, Nilla, I can completely understand the conversation you had with your friend. I think most of us have had that conversation when drawing someone else's character, and the person wants to be different. Either way, I think Repsak looks like a really interesting character, and I like the highlights you've put on his eye and necklace; really makes them stand out. The marking/tattoo on the cheek to the collarbone would stand out more with darker shading under the jawline and about halfway down the neck to emphasize it, giving it a more three dimensional appearance.

XD I don't have a problem with things being different, it's just the fact he said 'pink.' My muse kinda went gaga over it because pink eyes it's something kinda think is bordering Mary Sueish. In the end I just put my muse in box and sent it to Antarctica. XD
It ended up suiting the character, what could I do? XD
As always, you're right, the tattoo could stand to be darker. At the time I just didn't dare do much more to it, since shading and darkening is one of the things I just started out on. =)  I will edit this picture at some later date.

Really? I'm happy I don't do that. I have a couple of males elves that have purple eyes. I don't think any other colour would work for them. XD

I try not to bother with gender when it comes to color, name, or physical decoration on characters. I just don't see the elves having the same hangups humans do. I remember my brother debating with me over my naming my females with more "masculine" names (or words more typically associated with "masculine" imagry)and my male characters with more "feminine" names. As for characters that are "different," I don't have a problem with it, either, although I have had requests for some really...out there features. Often those "different" characters can be really interesting and fun to work with.
