Nightfall in the sleeping furs

I'm on an EQ-high again these days...

Dunno if it shows, but I tried experimenting with a different sketching/coloring technique on Nightfall here.

Usually I just do the rough sketch and then go all color crazy, drawing everything on very few layers. And I never do "real" outlines. My messy brain can't cope with them. I mean, I love clean and crisp lines in other peoples work (Joselle anyone?) - but I couldn't draw a straight line if my life depended on it.
Basically, I paint, I don't draw.

Even so... on this particular pic I tried to do the latter. First a rough sketch, then neat (as neat as possible for me) outlines, and then coloring on many different layers.
Unfortunately, I'm quite pleased witht the result.
Unfortunalety- because the process itself was a pain and not something I'd like to repeat very soon.  ;D

Your line work turned out really well! I can see the difference between this and your other art but it's still unbelievably pretty!

Looove! Looove! Always love such a curvaceous inviting Nightfall. Somehow quite naughty, this one... ;)
I like the lines, it's easys to see you tried something different. I like your painterly style too, so it's hard to say which one is better.
My favorite part here is how incredibly golden her hair seems to be!

Nightfall has always been one of my all time favorite characters in Elfquest, and you did a gorgeous job of drawing her. I think she and the illo in general look warm and inviting, and the hair looks so realistically lifelike. She does appear young, I agree with Nilla, but I think it's because she's usually depicted with a strong square face/jawline, and she seems to have much softer slightly oval/angular features here.

Thanx guys! The hair was actually quite fun doing; the rest was "OMG-I-hate-drawing-outlines". :P
But it was a fun experiment!
I've never gotten used to Nightfall's "angular" look, by the way (don't like it too much either...), so she always ends up looking somewhat like in the OQ, that is, a quite "young" version with more rounded features.

glugh, I think I'm drowning 'neath waves of wonderful, beautiful Nightfall. You push my head under every time I need air! SPECTACULAR. That's my girl right there and you did her perfectly.
