Drawing with gel pens is fun to do and see results off. As for noses, it is true. Might be because most of the time we are trying to make the drawings of characters either most like the characteristics, and if invented character, one wants to make said person have a balanced look, since it then becomes prettier in our eyes. Of course, people with balanced looks look better, but there aren't that many who has it.

Thanks! well, I can honestly say that beautiful characters often bore me to death, I really don't understand why people draw characters like that... I've always enjoyed different facial features and body-types... Well, people can like beauty if they want, but for me, it has always been over hyped...

Indeed, different body types and noses are in my opinion a better way to make ones character stand out or special than giving the person a very fancy name or coloring the bangs purple. (My avatar is based on a character in another series, so I escape it that way ) Another thing I love to see in characters are freckles. Little children have it, but grown characters... not so much.

Count me in the "Marut's Lovely Nose" -fanclub! I find characters with imperfections more beautiful than flawless ones. Distinct features make a character special and easier to be remembered (especially if they're surrounded by standard, 'beautiful' characters). I think it's actually hard to draw a character with enough different features to make them stand out and yet be generally thought of as beautiful.
Ah, I went off topic. Sorry. Hmm, I should try out gel pens too. Though I remember always smudging everything with them.. |

Startear: Hahahah! Freckles! yes! they are fun! I actually have many characters that have freckles, most known might be Terry Van Honk, who looks like he has been shot with a miniature shotgun! he REALLY has freckles!...
Czarine: Well, I do it all the time, so for me, it's easy!... and fear not, I have TONS of Gel pens... thanks to my mom... |
