Submitted for the "Beloved Dead" 2005 Calendar it made it for the month of November.

Hearing the theme I automatically thought of Vaya and decided to focus on the family aspect, but still keep her in the forefront hence the shadow images.  These are three very powerful women and the title is my description for each.  Venka (on the left) - Power, Vaya (in the middle) - Honour, Kahvi (on the right) - Strength.  I tried my best to study the profiles of Venka and Kahvi to make them recognizable even in silhouettes.  The design I used on the top actually came from a carving that was shown in Kahvi's room in one of the books.

Outlined in black ink/coloured in coloured pencils/Silhouettes in marker

this is very original idea, and I like the way you did this, the silhouettes are recognizable and Vaya's expression is very facinating... I too think this is one of the best calendar works ever...

This reminds me of a northern European woodcut - simple, powerful, austere and beautiful. *sigh* :love
