Thornbow
by Eregyrn
I did this piece because I wanted to play with his new look a bit, and I also wanted to feature him as he has just become adoptable (so I wanted to entice folks to take a look at him ).
I'm not entirely thrilled with how his face came out, but...
(The usual media from me.)

He is a handsome fellow. I like his gentle and seemingly calm look. Blond and green look good together. I also like his bbow a lot! Did you do the background with Paintshop? I like how stylized it looks.

Thanks, Treefox.
The background was done partly by hand, partly in Photoshop. I drew and inked the black thorn-branches by hand. The green branches with leaves are a set that I created a while ago -- I did them by hand using a green Copic marker, without any black inked lines or anything. I can select them, and copy/paste them multiple times to create a fill effect (usually varying the angle and flipping them horizontally, to create as many varied shapes as possible), and then I can also play with the hue, light/dark, and saturation of their color to achieve other layering effects like this. If I recall correctly, the background here is one very-dark-green solid layer; a layer of medium-green branches/leaves on top of that; a layer of lighter-green semi-transparent leaves on top of that; and the black thorn-branches on top of those. I've used those branches to create similar effects on a handful of other pieces on my gallery. It's a technique for when I'm feeling lazy, frankly. ;-) |

I've always had a soft spot for archers
This is a beautiful piece. As Treefox said, blonde and green go really well together, and I do love that expression (not sure if it's sly or serene, perhaps a bit of both?) |
