2011 Fan Art Calendar: JANUARY
I had no idea what to draw as a Hidden Moment, so I began rereading everything. This first meeting between Rayek, Ekuar and the Go-backs is mentioned by Kahvi to Cutter in book 17, The fist war. She also mentioned that Rayek taught them to live in the mountains, so I figured they used to live in tents before they met. I think Kahvi, Urda and Rayek would be cautious and suspicious to each other in the first meeting, while the other go-backs would be more curious and Ekuar would be very excited to meet other elves.

I'm beginning to think you are a fan of Kahvi. ^_^ Between this and your entry for last year's calendar, you've got a great beginning for a retrospective of her life. I still love your style and the way you capture winter so well.

I agree! Kahvi and winter make a real continuous theme in your work! It's really good to see you back this year.

I like how Urda is surreptitiously getting out her blade. I think the emotions of everyone are dead on.

Good choice! I really like the uncertainty on everyone's faces, here -- except for Ekuar's, and how characteristically open and optimistic he looks! The warmth of Rayek's figure really stands out well against the wide-open, wintry landscape.

My response might be a bit late, but thank you all for your kind words!
The other entries are so pretty, especially the colouring. That is still a weak point for me, so I enjoy seeing how skilled you all are and to see what different styles are used. Also, it's a good thing I didn't choose to go with my second idea, it was the same as Elea's, but she did a far better job at it then I ever could! |

If this picture is any indication, then coloring is not either a weak point for you. I think the colors here are lovely! I love the tents. *grin*

Rayek doesn only look a little sceptical to grumpy here because he's trying not to shiver because he's freezing.
