Character from Windhowl/Bluereef Holt. Has an obvious affinity for crows and always has at least one in his company. It's an old illo but it's something that isn't too embarrassing. I think two pens died on me because of the black on black on black coloring.

so nice to see a picture of a character I know. My character Mistfall is friends with crow.

I recently came across a couple of illos featuring Crow and Mistfall together. I am still going through all the back issues, and it's amazing what I'm seeing. I'd forgotten or just didn't even KNOW some of the stuff!

Crow at one point had a crush on Mistfall, and she was so ignorant she did not get it. But he found a mate some time later...I want to say her name was Owl something, but I am not sure of that. This is one of the best pieces of Crow I have seen, including mine.

I did see an illo done by Ailene where Crow was ogling Mistfall with little hearts around his head and she had a question mark over her's, poor Lizaire looking on equally confused. Yeah, Crow hooked up with Owleyes (Kaitlin Raymon), or at least that appeared to be the direction they were headed. Glad you like the illo; that black on black thing drove me nuts!

The pen-death was really worth it, though. I love how the outfit came out.
 Especially-great fringe.

This is by far my favorite of your drawings!
The clothes are great. With the ink work, you've got a real tactile sense going on that these are rugged leathers, something that is practical for a forest dwelling elf (like Native American deerskins, with the fringe too). Yet, there is enough of your characteristic ornamentation to keep it feeling "fantasy." Nice. Then there is the character's gesture. Your style tends greatly towards "posed," almost dance-like gestures, but this seems more natural, as if Crow were stepping onto that rock in order to launch his crow-friend into the sky. Maybe he wouldn't be pointing his left foot quite so balletically, but all in all, I really like the natural feel of this. Oh, and speaking of natural, I love seeing you do short(er) hair for once! Now this guy I can see running through the forest without having to untangle himself every few seconds! :thumbs up: |
