Laluna in Sorrow's End

Berit wanted me to draw a sun villager outfit for Laluna, so... here's something. Hmm, it might be a bit too simple, maybe. Also, I rushed the background, sorry about that.   :-[

It was hard trying to make the heat visible. I need to practise that more. And shame on me for using lense flare..   ::)

EDIT:
I adjusted the colours more towards yellow, and also increased the brightness. I hope it's not too much. I think it looks a little "hotter" now. :)

Go here if you want to compare with the earlier version:

I like the outfit...especially the top half of it.

If you don't mind a bit of advice, try dialing back on the intense green. . I took the liberty of trying a yellower green, which I think helps keep the colors in balance, and contributes to the dry/hot feeling.

(If you don't like it when people do drawovers, I humbly apologize!

Looks really good! Don't mind the rushing, works very well for the impressionistic feeling of wanting to "catch the light".

Wow, thanks Foxeye! The more yellowish green works a lot better. I think I'll go adjust that green a bit later when I've got time. And don't worry, I like to receive advice! :)

Oh the mood in this wonderful. I think you managed to convey the heat pretty well. I agree with Foxeye on the subdued green. You just expect less green in the desert, so more yellowish colors help with the overall impression. Her face, outfit and posture are gorgeous!

You know, I don't think it's just the green that's keeping it from feeling desert-y, it's all the purple in the shadows, especially in the figure. If you cover up the green it actually looks like to good color palette for snow country. A general rule of thumb is to pick cool colors for cold environments and warm ones for hot.

Great sketch, but I think the colors just aren't jiving.

Oh, nice! Yes, you kinda need to squint, but it's definately a good thing. A big improvement from the first version (which was very good in itself, by the way)!

Of topic: You're Finnish, right? I think it's something about us people from the cold north...we just need to draw our way out of the could season! :p

Mirror: Heh, you might be right about that. It's hard to imagine a warm, colourful place when it's greyscale/pitch black outside! :D

I think you did a fantastic job on the final version of this!  I love that blown-out light -- it sets the mood so intensely!  (And good job designing a Sun Folk outfit!)  But I kind of like your earlier version, too.  The darker, cooler colors in that made me think of it as either desert dawn or twilight.

I actually like the both versions alot! and YAAAY! you finally did it! thanks! now I can draw her in sunvillage without having to think what her clothes might look like!... I think this outfit looks good on her!... I like the light effects very much, and I don't see a problem about using the lense flare if it suits the picture, here it just adds to the brightness of the sun!...
