Gang of four

These are four deceased characters from the past of Zomerbron. They were a tight bunch and loved pulling pranks - also on each other. In one of their dice based "I dare you to..." games one of them dies. :o Drama!

I wanted to post this as an example for a possible new challenge of facial expressions. But these are still very subtle. I used photo references and I already exaggerated those.

I love their expressions. They really look like a pack of troublemakers. :)

I so adore how "real" your elves are.  They are not some idealized paper cutouts with all sorts of attributes that require a suspension of disbelief, but rather they seem like real believable beings.  The adjective "earthy" comes to mind.

I can imagine these, or any of your elves, with skinned knees, dirty clothes and other "real" consequences of life in nature.  I mean, EQ talks about Cutter having fleas, but it is hard to picture it!   :D

These four look like trouble!

Creating believable silly expressions is not easy! I think you did this very well again, without exaggerating them.

I keep looking at your work (which I love by the way) trying to figure out how you get them to look so real... It's the eyes. They are not large like elfquest elves. They are more proportionate like human eyes only a bit more pointed. Subtle, very cool

Damn, you got me. ;D It's true, they're still too big for human eyes, but a lot smaller than most people do elf eyes. I used to do big ones too, but I found them to look too fake and so they gradually have gotten smaller. I can do a lot more with them (expressions) now that they're no longer too big for their heads.
