Nicely done...the colors add a lot to these. :D

One small correction: Rahnee is actually a blonde. Here is a link to the hair color that Wendy Pini gives her: http://moonbrook1981.tripod.com/sitebuildercontent/sitebuilderpictures/.pond/rahneehead.jpg.w180h231.jpg

Thank you very much)))
Frankly, I am learning to apply the color and shade. I watched, by the way, your work and try to repeat - I study. You are not offended?
About the hair color. We in Russia - very little information on ElfQuest. Although I have a question: if the Pope - brown and my mom brunette, why daughter blonde ? )))

Ooh, lovely in color! What effort!
Well, Rahnee might be blond, but with this hair color she looks a bit like an ancestor of Moonshade.
Anyway, it's great that you colored it!

Beautiful work, Elea!

I can answer that question. Parents with brown or even black hair can have a blonde child because of genetics. Both parents in this case will have a recessive gene for blonde and the combination of genes is just right for that child to have blonde hair. The same is true for blue eyed kids from brown eyed parents. Red hair, however, comes from an independent allele; everyone has it even though it may not be expressed.

Reeeeally? I didn't know that.  So what gets in the way of expressing it?  (I was the redheaded child of two dark-haired parents, so I used to day dream that my father was actually a fox-spirit that seduced my mum. *snicker*)

No, I'm not offended at all. I'm flattered! :)

Awesome poster, and I especially like it that you've included Cutter and Ember there as well. That's not often done when the chiefs of the Wolfriders are portrayed together. :]

And when we're commenting on haircolor anyway; I think Bearclaw's hue might be too red, I think he's supposed to be more of a darkbrown (kinda like you did Mantricker but even less red than that).

Treefox, Thank you very much. I Rahnee dye in a blonde ... but then))))

Joyrider1978, Thank you very much. I try))))

Amberfox, Thank you very much. I am pleased!
And we have different ways schools teach anatomy. We were told that the child will inherit the dominant genes of the parents))) Thanks for the explanation. Incidentally, I realized my mistake with the color of hair Nightfall.

Foxeye, You have very interesting dreams)))) (If I understood correctly)
))) Fox - a very beautiful animals ... however, as the wolves ... and like rabbits .... probably))))
Oh, not all clear to me in life elf))) But, I believe that they have power over what we can only dream of.

afke, Thank you very much. Ember - is no ordinary leader (I always thought). But she continuer kind)))
About Bearclaw: color of his hair ... is my association of this character. It is generally my favorite hero. He is bright, impulsive, impetuous, all-consuming - like fire! Every time I attach color drawings Bearclaw, I try to do his hair like a mad fire tangled in them. Although I know he's brown)))) It is love! And not otherwise!)))

Foxeye: the expression of the red allele isn't clearly understood, but from studies done in 1997, it appears to be changes of various origins on a specific gene (MC1R) on chromosome 16. The changes can be genetic (passed on by parents) or a variation that just happened during development. What's really in control of how much the red is expressed is the associated pigment deposited on hair shafts and skin cells (notice redheads tend to be fair skinned? There's a reason!) while the dark pigment is repressed. Hope that helps!

Elea, your schools are not entirely wrong. Children often inherit the dominant genes from their parents, but if the parents have recessive genes, there is a chance one child may be born expressing those genes: a simple example would be parents both have black hair but HAVE the genes for blonde hair. In theory, they have a 1 in 4 chance their child will be a blonde, 1 child will have nothing but the dominant genes (black hair), and 2 will have both dominant and recessive genes (black hair). I can explain this better if you would like me to in a personal email; I'm sure people are tired of reading the biology geek's replies on this!

Oh, and Foxeye, I've got a lot of red in my hair, too; it's sort of reddish-blonde, light brown-coppery...something. I've been called a redhead, a blonde, and a brunette all in the same day. And I will roast to a crisp if exposed to a photo of the sun.

Amberfox, Oops ... I always thought that dark curly hair can dominate the blond straight hair ... My son is denied. Here's my picture (http://fc00.deviantart.net/fs71/f/2010/024/6/1/Elea_1_by_oldxer.jpg), but it (http://img1.liveinternet.ru/images/attach/c/0/33/499/33499299_1223652154_CIMG1095.jpg).
Although the potential father was with dark hair and eyes were brown))) Genetics - funny thing )))))

all my siblings and I have dark hair and eyes except my younger sister who has blonde hair and blue eyes, we use to tease her that she is adopted but she has the same parents as the rest of us. genetics are strangely beautiful sometimes...

Again, thought I had posted to this a long time ago. Silly me. Loved the photo, and your son is adorable. Remember, your son looks very young and hair and eyes tend to darken as we grow older. He may yet have dark hair and eyes. Dark curly hair does dominate blonde and straight, but if both parents have the recessive gene for blonde and straight, there is a good chance their child will have the recessive traits.

Strangely, though, I was born with black hair and blue eyes, but I now have green-blue eyes and a strange blonde-red-coppery-brown mix in my hair. The eyes make sense, but when my baby hair fell out, it grew back in the color of Cutter's. Since then, red, copper, and light shades of brown have come in as well.
