Mother Nature
by joselle
So Kaslen IS mother nature....so it's lame and uncreative of me to do her, but that's how the cookie crumbles. This is also my personal favorite work of mine, and the first painting I did playing around with my new cintiq....which has shamefully been used to make lame icons and buttons and not nearly enough fab eq art....alas.
And for the love of God enlarge this picture...it looks sooooo much better that way. And it's HUGE!

Oh she's lovely, I see why this is your favorite. I love the dichotomy between the smooth detail on her face and the rough painterly effects of her gown / background. I don't even know what a "cintiq" is but you rock it!
...and where is this 100 themes list I keep hearing about? I could certainly use a thematic kick in the pants to get me drawing more... |

Lol. Thanks.
A cintiq is a type of wacom. And a wacom is a digital pen tablet---ooodles more awesome than a mouse for the makings of digital art. Cintiq's are the fancy wacoms where the tablet is the screen, and you draw directly onto it, almost like a digital piece of paper. Pure awesome! |

Oh. Haha. I didn't even answer your question about the 100 theme stuff. See....cintiqs are so awesome they make me drool out my brains....
I stumbled across it on deviatart.com ...but have long since forgotten where specifically. But the jist of it is that there are 100 prompts...(what I've used for the titles of each of the pieces). There's a couple different versions of the list, but the one that I used is my favorite. You're supposed to finish the list in a year...but screw that. I've had several "series" --all unfinished of course lol, throughout my eqfandomness, but the prompt list was by far the most fun. So do it! Join the cult! I can send you the list if you'd like. <3 |

Ahh, so a cintiq is a super-cool wacom. I have an ancient intuos 2 but suck at computer drawing / coloring. But your work glows and makes me want to get better!
Sure, I'd love it if you sent me the list! Is it PM-able? And I hope to see more work from you relating to it! |

Brilliant! How the red and the flowers stand out against the subdued greens and grays... *sigh*

Kaslen is positively gorgeous in this! It has a strange blend of art nouveau/deco style, and the flowers and leaves have a sheer fabric quality to them. More than anything else - those eyes are absolutely mesmerizing! I'm envious of your style and skill.

Wow! those eyes truly are captivating! and the roses on her hair, the colors you used as well as the shapes make me think of some antique paintings and detailing, and that is darn awesome!... also, I like the texture on the background quite a lot!...
