2010 Fan Art Calendar: OCTOBER
I knew Scouter was an obvious choice for the calendar, so I tried hard to think of other characters. Yet he kept poking at me, telling me he really wanted to shine, and when I started seeing the leaves turn color, I knew I had to paint him.

Now this is what I'm talking about: use unusual colors like orange, and use them in abundance. You've got several variations of orange in this image, and they're layered so that they don't overlap. Against the green and red of Scouter's clothes, they contract beautifully.
Keep it up! |

I think choosing Scouter is a neat choice, seeing how little love he usually gets. Also nice that you actually chose a certain season, which is rather convenient for calendar use.

Excellent choice! I love the sharp detail of the foreground leaves, they are beautifully done; and particular kudos for the tree-bark, which is rendered extremely well! I also like how the background gives us a long vista over the forest canopy, giving us a sense of what Scouter is seeing.

It is great to see Scouter in a better "light," since from the original Quest, he seems to have gotten rather nasty. I've read so many really negative things about him, although I have yet to read the issues these commenters are discussing. The yellows and reds do work perfectly with Scouter and I love the leaves in the foreground to almost give a sense that we're watching him scout.

This has wonderful relaxed atmosphere about it, even though he is doing an important job, he is clearly enjoying himself while he does it! and Yeah, fall is a magical thing!...
