Mischief managed
by Afke
This is Nachtzang when he was little (on the left) and his friend Kraai, both created by my cousin Tineke. Kraai is Nachtzang's imaginary friend, he talks him into doing naughty stuff - like wrecking the place as you can see. ;p
Kids drawn with Faber-Castell brush pen, background in pencil, everything colored with Copic markers.

*laugh* What a great pair.
I like that you were able to make the background less saturated...I didn't know markers could be that subtle. |

Thank you!
I think not using black lines for the background already worked very good. But I also tried picking the lighter colors. For example normally I might've used Nachtzang's haircolor for the ceramics in stead of this pinkish skincolor. |

They even wrecked persons! I only saw that the second time I looked at this. Neat concept an elf having an imaginary friend. That's something I've never heard before.
Really like the Copic coloring, too. |

Everyone else in the holt is older than he is (even the kids), he so needed a friend to play with that Kraai just happened to drop by.

I agree with Foxeye! the lighter lineart on the background sure gives nice feel of distance! and yeah... Imagenary friends can get you in trouble!...

Love the idea of an imaginary friend, although I have to wonder...in the realm of EQ, spirits are attracted to those born of Recognition. Could Kraai be the spirit of a cub/child just eager to find a partner in crime, especially now that he can't directly cause mischief himself? Just a thought.
Great illo as always! |

Haha, nice thinking along! I should pass that thought through to his owner. Although I must say we bended several EQ rules to fit our thoughts on our RPG world.

On the other hand; my character Pinvis has seen Kraai as well! It happened when the Zonnemeerders first visited Zomerbron, they saw many kids there and Pinvis didn't quite catch how many because of all the hectic moments.
Later in the caves there was a little accident with fiveleaf (weed) that ended up in the fire nobody noticed and lots of elves got 'under influence'. 5 year old Nachtzang was just sending images of his friend Kraai to his new friend Pinvis and she -believing this to be a real boy- actually saw him walking. She ended up playing hide-and-seek with the 2 boys, haha! |
